Approaching 183 days in Spain
You have 164 days in Spain this year. TEAC ‘sporadic absences’ doctrine means short trips abroad still count.

The problem

Most nomads find out they owe tax somewhere two years late.

Tax residency rules aren't designed for people who move every few weeks. The traps are specific, doctrinal, and very country-by-country. Here are three that cost our users real money before they found us.

Art. 9.1 LIRPF
The 183-day rule isn't the only rule.
Spain's AEAT can claim residency below 183 days via habitual abode or centre of economic interests. Article 9.1 LIRPF applies three independent tests — any one can trigger Spanish tax residency.
TEAC resolutions
Sporadic absences count against you.
Spanish tax tribunal TEAC has held that short trips abroad don't reset your Spanish day count. Your weekend in Lisbon? Still a Spanish day for residency purposes unless you can prove otherwise.
OECD MC Art. 4
Certificates don't defend themselves.
A Romanian ANAF certificate doesn't automatically override a Spanish claim. You need the DTA tiebreaker evidence — permanent home, centre of vital interests, habitual abode — pre-assembled before AEAT asks.
The product

A clear answer to: where am I a tax resident this year?

Live day counter
Every country, every day, always current.
Log trips manually or import from CSV. Trips auto-categorise by country. Thresholds (AMBER 150 · RED 180 · RESIDENCY 183) evaluated on every change.
Risk flags
Rules that know their jurisdiction.
Not a generic 183-day tracker. We encode the specific doctrines — Spain's habitual abode, Romania's residency tests, DTA tiebreakers, family-presumption rules.
Defence File
The dossier your tax lawyer wants.
One-click PDF export of your travel log, evidence index, and residency certificates — pre-formatted for a tax challenge or DTA tiebreaker claim.

FAQ

Questions we hear weekly.

Is this tax advice?+
No. NomadFiscal provides information and tooling. Nothing here constitutes legal or tax advice. For a decision on your specific situation, consult a qualified tax professional — we can introduce you to one from our Directory.
Which countries do you cover?+
Romania and Spain at full procedural depth (forms, offices, exact references). Portugal, Estonia, Georgia, and UAE ship as overview-only stubs in v1. Day counting and risk flags work for any country you log trips in.
How do you handle my data?+
Encrypted in transit and at rest. We never share your travel log. You can export or delete your data at any time. GDPR-compliant, hosted in the EU (Neon Postgres + Cloudflare R2 EU jurisdiction).
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes. Pro Monthly and Pro Yearly cancel anytime from the Customer Portal in Settings. Your data stays available so you can export or come back later.
What if a tax authority is already challenging me?+
NomadFiscal is preventative and defensive — at its best before a challenge arrives. If you're already in an active procedure, we can introduce you to a tax professional from our Directory who specialises in your case.

The authorities are patient.
You shouldn't be.

A Spanish residency audit can reach back four tax years. If you've been travelling without tracking, start today — every day of future travel is another day of clear evidence.
